Lab Tests Online was recently recognised with an Award of Distinction in the 18th Annual Communicator Awards.

In winning the award for writing in the website category, Lab Tests Online confirmed its position as one of the premier healthcare information resources on the Internet. The Communicator Awards includes thousands of entries from across the United States and around the world. It is the largest and most competitive awards program to recognise the creative excellence of communications professionals.

“We are honoured to receive this important and prestigious award,” said George Linzer, Executive Producer of Lab Tests Online. “A Communicator Award supports our mission to improve health literacy by providing clear, accurate and accessible laboratory information to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.”

Lab Tests Online, a noncommercial, peer-reviewed patient resource on medical laboratory testing, is developed in the US by the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) in collaboration with 16 other laboratory organisations. Launched in 2001 and based in Washington, DC, Lab Tests Online (labtestsonline.org) is today a global standard for patient education, with versions of the site localised for use in 15 other countries, including the UK (labtestsonline.org.uk). Last year, 30 million patients, carers, and healthcare professionals from around the world visited a Lab Tests Online website for free information on hundreds of tests, conditions, and screening recommendations.

AACC is a leading professional society dedicated to improving healthcare through laboratory medicine. Its more than 9,000 members are clinical laboratory professionals, physicians, research scientists, and others involved in developing tests and directing laboratory operations.

The Communicator Awards is sanctioned and judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a "Who's Who" of acclaimed media, advertising, and marketing firms.
